During lockdown I was enjoying going for my walks so much that I thought maybe other people might like to join me.
I set up a Facebook Group which now has over 100 members. I started to post a weekly location and walk information. We have so far walked at High Ash Farm in Norwich, High Lodge in Thetford, Beccles Quay, UEA Lake, Aylsham, Mulbarton, Bramerton, Little Ellingham and Lady Belt Country Park. We recently visited Centre Paws in Wymondham for a walk and lunch.
The walks are all various lengths and conditions but I try to provide plenty of information and opportunities for everyone to join us.
I have been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people who have really supported this and helped me with running the group.
I have also received a grant from the charity Better Together Norfolk which helps to prevent loneliness and isolation by promoting community activities. This will enable me to provide a contribution to people’s car parking fees if there are any.
The next stage is to organise having some t shirts to be made by the wonderful Hal Print Company. Which if anyone purchases the profit will go to fundraise for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn for their bereavement suite.
I am also planning a longer walk next year (I had wanted to do one this year but due to covid that has stopped me from organising the walk) which will be run as a fundraising event for the bereavement suite.
I am hoping to continue this venture and continue to run a fundraising walk each year for local causes!
